24-year-old Maleah Bess Allen has been identified as the woman who died following a domestic-related incident on Thursday in Jackson, MS.
The Jackson Police Department and fire department were called to the Westwood Apartments around 12pm after receiving calls of an active shooter report. Police say Ron Christopher Allen shot and killed his victim after learning that she was cheating with another man.
Officers say the 52-year-old shot his wife seven times after discovering she had a boyfriend. The incident happened at the couple’s home in the Robinson Street apartments. Maleah was found dead with multiple shots to the body.
Arriving law enforcement determined that the suspect and the victim had been legally married since February.
“This was his wife. My understanding is she worked here at this location, and he came to this location and took her life,” he said. “I wish we could have done more to prevent this, but we have people who don’t know how to deal with emotions, who don’t know how to deal with somebody wanting to move on with their life,” Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said in a press release.
Ron Christopher was taken into custody from the scene after a brief standoff. Multiple departments responded to the scene, including the Jackson Police Department, the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, the Clinton Police Department, the Byram Police Department, and Capitol Police.
